#SAAM #IASK

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  Our friends and community partners at Planned Parenthood have undertaken a campaign to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it. This year’s campaign theme, “I Ask,” champions the message that asking for consent is a healthy, normal, and necessary part of everyday interactions.

There are many ways to get involved in Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Whether you have five minutes, five days, or five months, there’s a path for you to make a difference in the lives of survivors of sexual violence. Throughout the month of April, Victim Advocacy Services is hosting a number of events and fundraisers in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties in an attempt to raise awareness and rally around survivors of sexual assault in our community. No matter how you choose to get involved, know that every bit counts.
Victim Advocacy Services:
(VAS) provides free and confidential services for victims and survivors of sexual assault and sexual violence. They also provide services to friends and family affected by the sexual assault or acts of sexual violence against their loved ones. Free services are also provided for innocent victims of all other crimes.

Victim Advocacy Services maintains a 24-hour sexual violence hotline for past and present survivors of sexual assault and violence. Staff and trained volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer questions, provide crisis counseling, offer referrals, and accompany individuals to local emergency and/or police departments.
